Congress
Votes to Limit Federal Marriage Rulings
The Marriage Protection Act (MPA), which would strip federal courts of their ability to rule on any issues regarding the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, recently passed the House with a comfortable margin.
The measure, seen by many conservatives as a good next step now that the Federal Marriage Amendment has been at least temporarily defeated, was approved 233-194. It now heads to the Senate, where its prospects for success are uncertain.
